Pendrel in Olympic Pool

Elitewave's Catharine Pendrel qualified for the Olympic pool with an exciting 11th place finish at this weekend's World Cup in Mont Ste Anne, Quebec. Despite starting on the back of the grid (due to an error on the CCA's part), Pendrel moved into the upper echelon of the race, finishing just outside the top 10!

In Catharine's own words:"Dan, you have now officially coached an athlete into Olympic pool qualification!!! I had a great race, again very consistent laps. Had to start in dead last position ...but his helped me avoid a big crash off the start and I can't complain about finishing 6 seconds off 10th...especially since 10th place also started beside me at the back due to late entry."

Catharine will now head to the Pan Am Games where she will compete as Canada's only entry in the Women's Pan American Mountain Biking Championships.

If all goes well, Catharine will head toward the World Championships in early September, 2007 and on to Bejing for the Olympics in 2008.

Excellent work Catharine!
